Job Description
This on-site Recruiting Manager role in Racine, Wisconsin focuses on recruiting qualified Owner Operator Independent Contractors for an open deck trucking operation and reports directly to the President.
Responsibilities
- Recruit and retain top quality and safety-focused Owner Operators specializing in open deck, RGN, and step-deck configurations.
- Collaborate with management to set and pursue recruitment goals for the organization.
- Execute daily recruiting activities in alignment with company guidelines and policies.
- Clearly communicate the benefits, expectations, and capability to deliver open deck freight while ensuring shipment safety and security at all times.
- Develop and maintain a pipeline of qualified applicants through applications, cold outreach, social media, networking, job fairs, trade shows, and online postings.
- Establish realistic growth targets and pursue them.
- Pre-qualify applicants and advance suitable candidates to subsequent stages in the hiring process in accordance with company policy.
- Complete all required DOT background checks, verifications, and other qualification criteria efficiently and thoroughly.
- Collaborate with applicants to gather information needed to complete the hiring process.
- Oversee the orientation process for new hires.
- Limited travel as required.
Requirements
- Experience recruiting and retaining Owner Operators, preferably within a specialized hauling operation.
- Exceptional verbal communication skills with the ability to engage a diverse pool of applicants.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; familiarity with an applicant tracking system is a plus; experience with McLeod Software is a plus.
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team, with solid organizational and problem-solving capabilities.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, compliance, and transportation requirements.
- Ability to work independently, follow instructions, meet deadlines, and multi-task across responsibilities.
