Job Description

Senior Recruiter role with Markel Service Inc. in Glen Allen, VA (hybrid) with a salary range of USD 80,000 - 90,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and drive end to end recruitment strategy for open roles, emphasizing a strong talent pipeline to meet current and future staffing needs.
  • Lead full life cycle recruiting including sourcing, screening and assessments, presenting candidate submittals, guiding interviews, and negotiating offers on Markel's behalf.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to shape recruiting initiatives, monitor market trends, deliver competitive insights, and ensure headcount plans align with business goals.
  • Provide regular updates and calibration of hiring needs to hiring teams and HR business partners.
  • Apply the Markel Employer Value Proposition to craft marketing efforts aligned with brand, vision, and values to attract diverse, top-tier talent.
  • Design sourcing strategies that include passive candidate outreach, leveraging networking, Workday Recruiter, social media, job boards, referrals, SEO, and LinkedIn tools.
  • Build and sustain beneficial professional relationships through industry networking, associations, trade groups, employment networks, and social channels.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of talent acquisition processes and operations to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of full life cycle corporate recruiting experience with a proven track record of identifying and engaging top talent.
  • Ability to execute all stages of talent search, including AI tools, internet search optimization, innovative sourcing programs, passive candidate mining, networking, pre screening, offer negotiations, and candidate relationship management.
  • Proficiency with diverse sourcing techniques and platforms, including AI, Boolean search, market research, LinkedIn Recruiter, and social media.
  • Strong client service orientation and candidate relationship management skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle highly sensitive information.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking using data-driven insights while respecting others’ input, values, and ethics.
  • Familiarity with applicant tracking systems; Workday experience preferred.
  • Ability to understand and apply relevant federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Insurance or financial services recruitment experience is preferred.

Pay Information

  • The base salary is determined by factors such as education, experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, and location. National range for this role is USD 80,000 – 90,000 with a potential 15% bonus.
