Job Description

UNC Asheville presents an on-site leadership opportunity in Asheville, NC, to guide talent acquisition across recruitment and onboarding. This Director of Talent Acquisition role offers a salary range of USD 85,000 to 90,000 per year and centers on strategic workforce planning, inclusive recruitment, and partnering with hiring managers to elevate the candidate experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and governance of proactive talent acquisition initiatives that advance recruitment and onboarding at UNC Asheville.
  • Shape the university’s long-term workforce planning and recruitment strategies with a focus on an effective, efficient, and inclusive life cycle.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate programs for sourcing, recruiting, hiring, and onboarding talent.
  • Engage potential candidates through social media, professional networks, recruiting events, and strategic sourcing channels.
  • Build strong relationships with hiring managers and campus leaders to align recruitment plans with departmental needs.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all aspects of the recruitment process, from requisition creation through onboarding.
  • Advise managers on recruitment systems, processes, and procedures; coordinate advertising strategies; manage postings and timelines; support screening and candidate selection; guide search committee composition and interview processes; assist with final candidate selection.
  • Develop, deliver, and maintain search committee training for all staff positions, ensuring understanding of employment practices, Equal Employment Opportunity standards, and applicable regulations.
  • Monitor applicant pools and provide guidance to search chairs to support a fair, equitable, and inclusive hiring process.
  • Manage and coordinate all staff onboarding procedures to ensure a welcoming and consistent experience for new employees.
  • Supervise team members and support their growth through coaching, feedback, and professional development.
  • Demonstrate adaptability, strong organizational skills, creativity, and the ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines while leading large-scale recruiting initiatives and managing change.
  • Review and update policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state law.
  • Contribute to broader Office of Human Resources projects and initiatives aligned with the University’s mission and strategic plan.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and three years of progressively responsible HR experience applying best practices to organizational goals, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Degrees must come from appropriately accredited institutions.
