Job Description

This nonprofit recruitment role supports the Vocational Instruction Project, with onsite duties in Bronx, NY. Role Overview

As a Recruiter, you will contribute to advancing the organization’s mission by identifying, engaging, and hiring qualified professionals. You will act as a conduit between mission-driven talent and program needs, managing the full recruitment lifecycle from initial outreach through offer. The ideal candidate excels at building trusted relationships and evaluates candidates on both core competencies and alignment with organizational values.

Responsibilities

  • Candidate Sourcing & Outreach
    • Develop and implement strategic recruiting plans and targeted outreach campaigns to cultivate robust talent pipelines.
    • Utilize job boards, social media, and professional networks to attract passive and active candidates who share the mission.
  • Hiring Manager Partnership
    • Work closely with department heads and program managers to define job specifications and understand unique team requirements.
    • Lead strategy sessions to establish hiring timelines, structure interviews, and reduce bias in the selection process.
  • Candidate Experience & Selection
    • Oversee the full-cycle recruitment process, including resume screening, initial interviews, and guiding candidates through the hiring funnel.
    • Guarantee a fair, equitable, and positive applicant experience for all candidates.
  • Employer Branding
    • Strengthen the organization’s employer brand by communicating mission, workplace culture, and social impact.
    • Represent the organization at career fairs, networking events, and community forums.

Requirements

  • Education/Experience: A bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field, with a minimum of two years of full-cycle recruiting experience.
  • Sector Knowledge: Prior experience or a demonstrated passion for nonprofit and mission-driven work.
  • Communication Skills: Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication abilities.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and standard HR metrics; experience with Paylocity is noted in the data.
  • Specific Recruitment Experience: Experience recruiting for homeless shelters or health clinics is a plus.
