Job Description

Advanced Fiber Products offers a part-time on-site role in La Crosse that combines recruiting coordination with HR administration in a manufacturing setting. The Recruiter/HR Assistant focuses on sourcing, onboarding, benefits administration, and a range of HR tasks to support the human resources function.

The position requires an associate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, along with at least three years of HR or recruiting experience, including a minimum of two years in full-cycle recruiting, ideally within a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle recruiting for production roles and assist with sourcing for skilled, technical, and professional positions.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and craft effective recruiting strategies.
  • Develop and oversee job postings across company career pages, job boards, and social media.
  • Source qualified candidates through staffing agencies, job boards, referrals, social channels, community partnerships, job fairs, and educational institutions.
  • Screen resumes, conduct phone interviews, and coordinate interviews with hiring managers.
  • Maintain consistent candidate communication to ensure a positive experience.
  • Keep ATS records and recruitment documentation up to date; track key metrics such as applicant flow, time-to-fill, and hiring effectiveness.
  • Prepare new hire paperwork and onboarding materials; ensure accurate employment eligibility documentation.
  • Maintain employee personnel files and update HRIS records; respond to onboarding questions and explain policies, benefits, and procedures.
  • Assist with administration of benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, and wellness programs; support Open Enrollment communications.
  • Help with benefits audits and compliance reporting; maintain confidential HR records and HRIS data.
  • Prepare employment verification requests and other HR-related documentation; maintain SOPs and HR forms.
  • Support HR reporting, record retention, and compliance tasks; manage HR office supplies and recruiting materials.
  • Handle confidential information with discretion; assist with employee engagement activities and company events.
  • Compile recruiting and HR metrics for management reporting and identify opportunities to improve processes.
  • Support HR projects and department initiatives; perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (required).
  • 3–5 years of experience in human resources or recruiting.
  • Minimum of 2 years of full-cycle recruiting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • 3 years in human resources management (required).
  • On-site work location in La Crosse, WI (in person).
  • Strong knowledge of recruiting best practices and candidate sourcing strategies.
  • Experience using social media and creative recruiting techniques.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy; ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and HR technology systems.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with managers and team members.
  • Strong problem-solving, time management, and follow-up skills.

Recruiting & Talent Acquisition

  • Manage full-cycle recruitment for production positions and assist with sourcing for skilled, technical, and professional roles.
  • Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and develop recruiting strategies.

HR Administrative Support

  • Maintain confidential employee records and HRIS data; prepare employment verification requests and HR correspondence.
  • Maintain HR forms, templates, and standard operating procedures; assist with HR reporting and compliance documentation.
  • Order and maintain HR office supplies and recruiting materials; handle confidential information with discretion.

HR Department Support

  • Assist with employee engagement activities, recognition programs, wellness initiatives, and company events.
  • Compile recruiting and HR metrics for management reporting; identify opportunities to improve processes.
  • Support HR projects and departmental initiatives; perform other duties as assigned.

Education

  • Associate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.

Experience

  • 3–5 years of HR or recruiting experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of full-cycle recruiting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using ATS and HRIS preferred.
