Job Description
Store & Haul offers a recruiting-first Driver Recruiter & Safety Coordinator role with uncapped per-hire bonuses and a base salary, focused on end-to-end CDL-A driver recruitment and audit-ready safety compliance. This onsite position is based in Fort Wayne, IN and reports to ownership, supported by a culture built on safety, quality, and compliance.

Responsibilities
- Source and recruit qualified CDL-A drivers through Indeed, referrals, social media, and your own pipeline; write and manage job postings
- Respond quickly to inbound driver leads, including after-hours and weekend calls, to secure top candidates
- Screen applicants: review applications, verify CDL and endorsements, and run pre-employment checks (MVR, PSP, employment verification, DOT drug & alcohol)
- Manage the applicant pipeline in the driver ATS (Double Nickel) and keep candidates warm through hire, orientation, and payroll setup (Paychex)
- Build and maintain driver qualification (DQ) files and keep them audit-ready for DOT/FMCSA
- Coordinate the DOT drug & alcohol testing program (pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion)
- Run day-to-day safety through Samsara: driver orientation, safety monitoring and coaching, accident/incident intake and reporting, and CSA score monitoring
- Track CDLs, medical cards, and certifications for upcoming expirations
- Partner with dispatch and maintenance on driver and safety issues
Requirements
- 2+ years in recruiting, driver recruiting, HR, or transportation operations (driver/CDL recruiting strongly preferred)
- Comfortable making outbound calls and selling the company to candidates — recruiting is relationship work
- Familiarity with FMCSA/DOT driver qualification and drug & alcohol rules is a strong plus
- Organized and detail-oriented enough to keep audit-ready files
- Comfortable learning and working in our tools: Double Nickel (driver ATS), Indeed, Google Sheets, Samsara, and Paychex — experience with any is a plus, but we will train the right person
- A self-starter who can own the recruiting funnel and chase down leads

Schedule & After-Hours
This is a full-time salaried role averaging about 45 hours per week. It also requires taking some calls after hours and on weekends to catch inbound driver leads so we do not lose strong candidates to faster carriers. Apply only if you are comfortable with this expectation.
