Talent Acquisition Specialist- Veterinary Recruiting
Job Description
Petfolk is seeking a Talent Acquisition Specialist to build veterinary talent pipelines and engage veterinary professionals across Petfolk’s markets, in a hybrid role based in New York, NY.
Responsibilities
- Cultivate and sustain active and passive veterinary talent pipelines aligned to current and future hiring needs.
- Support recruitment strategies across established markets, new market expansion, and high-priority roles.
- Launch new searches promptly by sourcing candidates and executing multi-channel outreach.
- Reach out to veterinary professionals via phone, SMS, email, LinkedIn, social media, referrals, professional networks, and industry events.
- Develop relationships with active and passive candidates, including those not ready to move roles.
- Serve as the initial point of contact and present Petfolk in a positive, engaging way.
- Lead introductory conversations to understand experience, career interests, motivations, compensation expectations, scheduling preferences, and geographic flexibility.
- Evaluate candidates and coordinate a thoughtful handoff to the appropriate recruiting or hiring leader.
- Provide consistent follow-up with candidates through the early stages of recruitment.
- Build knowledge of assigned markets, including talent availability, competitive activity, compensation trends, and barriers to engagement.
- Collaborate with Talent Acquisition leadership and hiring teams to understand priorities and tailor outreach strategies accordingly.
- Maintain accurate candidate activity, notes, next steps, and pipeline information in recruiting systems.
- Track recruiting activity and conversion metrics to assess what works and identify opportunities to improve.
- Offer ideas for campaigns, messaging, events, partnerships, and other ways to engage veterinary talent.
Requirements
- 1–3 years of experience in recruiting, talent sourcing, staffing, business development, sales, or related relationship-driven roles.
- Staffing agency or search experience is preferred but not required.
- Proven ability to proactively identify and engage prospective candidates or clients.
- Experience using phone, SMS, email, social media, and other channels to build relationships.
- Experience working with an applicant tracking system, recruiting CRM, or similar platform.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

Work environment
- Based in Petfolk’s New York City office, four days per week on-site with the fifth day available for remote or on-site work.
- Regular communication via phone, SMS, video conferencing, email, and other recruiting tools; remote work requires a reliable internet connection and appropriate workspace.
Compensation
- Base salary: $60,000 – $70,000 annually, dependent on experience and qualifications.
