Human Resources Director
Job Description
Hiawatha Homes seeks an experienced Human Resources Director to lead the HR function onsite in Rochester, Minnesota. In this role, you will guide the HR department, shape agency policies, and ensure regulatory compliance while coaching staff and driving professional development. The position offers a salary range of USD 62,000 to 68,600 per year and requires a bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field with at least three years of experience.
Responsibilities
- Oversees the HR team, providing ongoing guidance and performance feedback.
- Offers direction to agency personnel and coordinates ongoing professional development initiatives.
- Assists Supervisors and Directors in applying fair, consistent progressive discipline.
- Contributes to crafting and enforcing agency policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with licensing and legal requirements.
- Administers employee benefits programs and related activities.
- Manages leaves of absence processes and records.
- Oversees worker’s compensation programs and related compliance.
- Participates actively on multiple agency committees.
- Maintains clear and effective communication across the organization.
- Focuses on employee retention strategies and outcomes.
- Handles other HR duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Proficiency in speaking, writing, and understanding English.
- Strong written and oral communication abilities with solid presentation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution and collaborative problem solving.
- Outstanding organizational, time-management, project management, and customer service capabilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, and related software.
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record and successful completion of a Hiawatha Homes driving test.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field.
- Three or more years of HR experience, with nonprofit experience preferred.
- Solid knowledge of applicable federal and state HR laws.
- Ability to provide employment eligibility verification and TB clearance at hire.
- Must pass a State of Minnesota background check before working unsupervised.
