Marine Shipyard Recruiter / Site Coordinator

Join Hutco, Inc. as a Marine Shipyard Recruiter / Site Coordinator in Harvey, LA (onsite) and play a key role in keeping job sites staffed with qualified skilled trade talent. This position blends recruiting, onboarding, and on-site workforce coordination, with a supportive, collaborative culture and access to top recruiting tools, including popular job boards and applicant tracking systems. You will also receive $22/hour plus benefits and mileage reimbursement for job-related driving.

What you’ll do

Serve as the primary point of contact for both employees and shipyard clients, supporting day-to-day workforce operations at the job site. You will run full-cycle recruitment for skilled trade roles and ensure new hires are ready to start and supported throughout their first days on site.

• Recruit, screen, and qualify skilled trade professionals including welders, fitters, electricians, pipefitters, riggers, and marine joiners
• Manage the full-cycle recruitment process from screening and interviews through qualification
• Screen resumes, conduct interviews, and verify certifications and work history
• Handle onboarding and new hire paperwork, including insurance and compliance
• Maintain talent pipelines and build strong candidate relationships
• Provide outstanding customer service as the main point of contact for workforce needs and concerns
• Meet and check in new employees at the job site on their start date
• Respond to employee injuries on the job site and provide transportation as needed
• Make supply runs as needed to support field operations
• Work closely with internal teams to meet client needs
• Prepare weekly employment reports and support team goals

What you bring

• 3+ years of recruiting experience in industrial, marine, or skilled trades (shipyard experience preferred)
• Knowledge of shipyard crafts
• Goal-oriented, self-driven, energetic, and resilient with excellent interpersonal skills
• Comfort in sales, customer service, or similar people-focused environments
• Proficient time management and computer skills, including Microsoft Office and ATS
• Reliable personal vehicle and a valid driver’s license for site visits, employee transport, and supply runs (mileage reimbursed)
• Comfort spending time on active shipyard and industrial worksites, not only in an office setting
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus

Schedule and tools

• Monday–Friday, standard 8-hour shift
• Occasional weekend work (minimal and scheduled in advance)
• Some flexibility for occasional after-hours or urgent situations (such as job site emergencies)
