Driver Recruiter & Safety Coordinator
Job Description
Store & Haul is seeking a Driver Recruiter and Safety Coordinator to manage end-to-end CDL-A driver recruitment and DOT safety/compliance on site in Lima, Ohio. This role combines talent acquisition with driver safety program coordination to support the company’s transportation operations.
Responsibilities
- Source and recruit qualified CDL-A drivers through Indeed, referrals, social media, and your own pipeline; write and manage job postings
- Respond quickly to inbound driver leads, including some after-hours and weekend calls, as top drivers often explore multiple carriers
- Screen applicants: review applications, verify CDL and endorsements, perform pre-employment checks (MVR, PSP, employment verification, DOT drug & alcohol)
- Manage the applicant pipeline in the driver ATS (Double Nickel) and nurture candidates through hire, orientation, and new-hire payroll setup (Paychex)
- Build and maintain driver qualification (DQ) files and keep them audit-ready for DOT/FMCSA
- Coordinate the DOT drug & alcohol testing program (pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion)
- Run day-to-day safety activities through Samsara: driver orientation, safety monitoring and coaching, accident/incident intake and reporting, and CSA score monitoring
- Track CDLs, medical cards, and certifications for upcoming expirations
- Partner with dispatch and maintenance on driver and safety issues
Requirements
- 2+ years in recruiting, driver recruiting, HR, or transportation operations (driver/CDL recruiting strongly preferred)
- Comfortable making outbound calls and promoting the company to candidates — recruiting is relationship work
- Familiarity with FMCSA/DOT driver qualification and drug & alcohol rules is a strong plus
- Organized and detail-oriented enough to keep audit-ready files
- Willing to learn and work with tools: Double Nickel (driver ATS), Indeed, Google Sheets, Samsara, and Paychex — prior experience is a plus, but training will be provided
- A self-starter who can own the recruiting funnel and chase down leads

Schedule & After-Hours
This is a full-time salaried role averaging about 45 hours per week. It requires taking some calls after hours and on weekends to capture inbound driver leads, so applicants should be comfortable with that expectation.
Pay & Benefits
- 52,000–65,000 USD per year base, depending on experience
- Uncapped per-hire bonuses paid as drivers you hire stay with the company (90 days, 6 months, and 1 year)
