Junior Recruiter
Job Description
Serco North America is seeking a Junior Recruiter to support Talent Acquisition across corporate and government contracts, including Army, Navy, Air Force, and transitions to civilian roles. This hybrid role in Herndon, VA requires two on-site days per week and some travel, with full lifecycle recruiting responsibilities managed across a growing portfolio of opportunities. Ideal candidates reside in the DC/MD/VA area and are prepared to collaborate with multiple Hiring Managers to fill openings effectively.
Overview
Salary: USD 66,154 - 86,288 per year. Location: Herndon, VA (hybrid). Education: Bachelor's degree. Experience: 2+ years. Travel: up to 10% required.
Responsibilities
- Use various assessment tools and techniques to gauge candidate suitability for the role.
- Communicate with candidates to provide updates on application status and answer questions.
- Conduct initial phone or video interviews to assess qualifications and fit.
- Support between 10-15 Hiring Managers concurrently.
- Assist Hiring Managers with guidance from TA Manager, Lead Recruiters, or Senior Recruiters.
- Help Lead Recruiters, TA Manager, and/or Senior TA Manager with Hiring Manager status update meetings.
- Participate in training sessions to learn recruiting processes, tools, and best practices.
- Maintain alignment with candidate movement metrics and requisition time-to-fill targets.
- Process and update offer letters in the ATS.
- Manage 30-40 openings at a time with support from leads, senior recruiters, or managers.
- Create requisitions with minimal TA Manager assistance and maintain a low approval rejection rate.
- Assist in drafting job descriptions, posting ads, and managing recruitment marketing efforts.
- Maintain records in iCIMS or a similar ATS.
- Keep accurate records of candidate interactions and statuses in the ATS with minimal mistakes.
- Source candidates from external resources such as job boards.
- Create nurture campaigns with assistance.
- Conduct direct employer outreach on a weekly basis.
- Utilize strategic recruiting to support more challenging skill sets with guidance from Lead or TA Manager.
- Proactively build and maintain talent pipelines for future hiring needs with assistance from the Lead or TA Manager.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and 2 years of related experience (or a high school diploma and 4 years of related experience in lieu of degree).
- 2 years of experience using Microsoft Office Suite, ATS/Recruiting systems, and HRIS databases.
- At least 2 years of full lifecycle recruiting experience (attraction, sourcing, screening, networking, assessment, recruiting, pre-employment, and regulatory compliance).
- Knowledge of OFCCP compliance.
- Minimum of 2 years of Federal and/or State & Local government contracting experience.
- Creative ability in developing and implementing effective sourcing strategies, including online engagement and social networking.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and customer service skills.
- 10% travel required.
- Ability to adapt quickly to change.
