Job Description

You will work with a supportive dispatch and operations team while helping recruit and onboard drivers who meet safety and compliance standards.

This remote CDL Driver Recruiter role supports growth by combining recruiting, onboarding, and training, with a clear focus on DOT/FMCSA compliance, driver performance, and retention.

Responsibilities

  • Source, recruit, and onboard company drivers and owner-operators
  • Conduct phone screenings, interviews, and make hiring decisions
  • Build and execute recruiting strategies using Indeed, job boards, social media, and referrals
  • Represent STS to attract high-quality drivers
  • Lead new driver orientation and onboarding
  • Perform road tests and OTR evaluations when required
  • Train drivers on company policies, safety, and ELD usage
  • Support new hires during onboarding and their transition to dispatch
  • Ensure compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations
  • Maintain accurate driver qualification files
  • Monitor driver performance using ELD systems (Samsara preferred)
  • Collaborate with dispatch and planning teams to forecast hiring needs
  • Develop driver retention programs and engagement strategies
  • Track recruiting and retention KPIs including cost per hire, time to hire, and turnover rate
  • Address driver concerns to improve satisfaction

Requirements

  • 1+ year experience in driver recruiting or the trucking industry
  • Strong knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a CDL driver or driver trainer
  • Experience with Samsara ELD
  • Experience conducting road tests or OTR evaluations
  • Class A CDL (not required, highly preferred)
